ACES Host Family Association March Event: Blazers Game
ACES STAFF
In March, members of the Host Family Association gathered for a fun evening cheering on the Portland Trail Blazers and celebrating the spirit of community that makes hosting so special. Host families had the chance to meet one another, share their hosting experiences, and connect with others who are part of the ACES community. Many families were meeting for the first time, while others reconnected with familiar faces from past programs and events.
Once the game began, the energy in the arena was contagious. Families cheered loudly for the Blazers, enjoying the excitement of live NBA basketball together. For some host students and families, it was their first time attending a professional basketball game, making the night even more memorable.
Beyond the game itself, the evening highlighted what the Host Family Association is all about: building connections. Families bonded over their shared commitment to cultural exchange, traded stories about their host students, and strengthened their ties to both the ACES community and the city of Portland.
Events like this remind us that hosting is more than welcoming a student into your home; it’s about building friendships, connecting across cultures, and creating a supportive community right here in Portland. We’re grateful to everyone who joined us and look forward to seeing even more host families at future HFA events!
