We’re excited to share that ACES is launching the Host Family Association (HFA), a community designed to bring together our host families to connect, share ideas, and celebrate the spirit of international exchange.

Through the HFA, we plan to host dinners, coffee meetups, picnics, sporting events, award gatherings, educational opportunities, and community service activities, as well as provide new ways to be an even greater part of ACES. Our goal is to enhance the homestay experience for both families and students by fostering connection, community, and shared learning. While we know our host families already give so much, we want this to be a fun and rewarding way to stay involved. There’s no cost to be part of the HFA, and participation is completely flexible— join in whenever you can! If you’re a part of ACES, you’re a part of HFA!

April: International Trivia Night at Albina Library

Wednesday, April 15. Test your global knowledge and connect with fellow host families at our International Trivia Night! An evening of fun, culture, and friendly competition!

May: Tea Tasting at Smith Tea House

Sunday, May 17. Explore global flavors over tea while mingling with other host families.

June: Community Service at Portland Food Project

Saturday, June 13. Serve alongside other host families while helping Portland Food Project collect and organize food for neighbors in need.

Contribute to the ACES Cookbook!

Ever wonder what to cook for your students, what dishes they tend to love, or what you can make on a budget? You’re not alone! We’re putting together an ACES Community Cookbook filled with favorite recipes that students enjoy eating, and often love helping prepare. Whether it’s a go-to weeknight meal, a comfort food favorite, or a special dish with a story behind it, we’d love for you to tell us about it! Want to add more than one recipe? Simply resubmit the form! Our goal is to share this amongst all host families to spark inspiration, fun, and connection around the table.
